What’s Happening at Other Chapters

The Northwest Woodturners in Beaverton, Oregon will be meeting on November 1st at the former Hollywood video store at the mall. Stephen Hatcher will be demonstrating tips and tricks, as well as wood banding for inlay. Its also election time for board officers.

The Inland Northwest Woodturners are meeting on November 1st at the Woodcraft in Spokane Valley. Dan Chadwick will demonstrate how he makes those little needle cases and pill boxes.

The Seattle Woodturners next meeting is on November 8th with a demonstration on ornaments by John Shrader. The chapter will also be electing officers at this meeting.

The Woodturners of Olympia are also meeting on November 8th when Jerry Bahr will be demonstrating ornaments.

The Fraser Valley Woodturners Guild in Abbotsford, B.C. will be meeting on November 8th. Allan Busworth will demonstrate bowl turning.

The Willamette Valley Woodturners in Salem, Oregon will be meeting November 9th. Dean Jordan will be demonstrating embellishment techniques.

The Southwest Idaho Woodturners are meeting November 13th. John Lee will be demonstrating segmented turning. Also, on November 3rd the chapter is holding a Turn for the Troops pen turning event. They are planning on turning 1,140 pens! Way to go guys.

The Northwest Washington Woodturners are meeting on November 15th for their annual holiday party with a potluck and raffle. All of the raffle money will be dedicated to the chapter’s Educational Outreach Program which is headed by Past President George Way. This program is currently helping Sedro Woolley High purchase turning related equipment.

The Cascade Woodturners next meeting will be November 15th at the Franklin High School wood shop. At this meeting they will be having a demonstration on turning ornaments.

The Greater Vancouver Woodturners Guild in Vancouver, B.C. next meeting will be November 28th. This meeting will be the annual Christmas Potluck.

The Island Woodturners Guild on Vancouver Island will be meeting on November 28th. Also, the IWG are holding a 5 session beginning woodturning course beginning November 3rd for up to 5 turners. These sessions feature the top turners in the IWG.

The Olympic Peninsula Woodturners are meeting on November 28th and will have a demonstration by SPSW member Eric Lofstrom.

The Beaver State Woodturners in Eugene, Oregon will be meeting on November 29th (one week later that normal to account for Thanksgiving).
