What’s Happening at Other Chapters

The Northwest Woodturners in Beaverton, Oregon will be meeting on October 5th at the former Hollywood video store at the mall. The meeting will feature Steve Newberry demonstrating off-center turning.

The Southwest Idaho Woodturners are moving their October meeting to the 8th to accommodate a presentation of new Sorby turning products. The SWIWTA are also holding a 3-day woodturning class with Kirk DeHeer on October 19, 20 & 21. Check the SWIWTA website for more info.

The Seattle Woodturners next meeting is on October 11th. John Hampton will be demonstrating scoops and ladles.

The Fraser Valley Woodturners Guild in Abbotsford, B.C. are holding their next meeting on October 11th.

The Willamette Valley Woodturners in Salem, Oregon will be meeting October 11th with a demonstration by well known turner Stuart Batty. This demo will be held at Nick Stagg’s workshop in Independence.

The Northwest Washington Woodturners are meeting on October 18th and will have a demonstration by SPSW’s Eric Lofstrom on skews and forms. Eric will also be conducting classes on Friday on “Making the cuts”, and Saturday on sharpening techniques.

The Cascade Woodturners next meeting will be October 18th at the Franklin High School wood shop. At this meeting they will be holding their annual wood and art auction.

The Greater Vancouver Woodturners Guild in Vancouver, B.C. will hold their next meeting on October 24th. The GVWG are also sponsoring an all-day demo on the 27th and an all day class on the 28th with Merryll Saylan.

The Beaver State Woodturners in Eugene, Oregon will be meeting October 25th and will have a demonstration by Rudy Rudolph.

The Woodturners of Olympia are holding their next meeting on October 25th when David Charles will be demonstrating how to turn small ladles. BTW, the Woodturners of Olympia have redone their website. Stop by and take a look at the update.

The Island Woodturners Guild on Vancouver Island will be meeting on October 27th. The program will feature a demonstration on turning finials by Cindy Drozda.

The Olympic Peninsula Woodturners are meeting on October 31st with a spooky demonstration by Scott Overby.
