Ron Smallman came to the Pacific Northwest from Florida State University to work at the U.S. Science Exhibit in 1962. He then worked at the Pacific Science Center until 1968 when he started teaching at Overlake School followed by 22 years at St. Thomas School in Medina. He has always enjoyed working with wood as a hobby and has focused on woodturning during his retirement years. He has five children, three of whom are artists. Smallman volunteers as a BAM Docent and feels that every community needs to have an art focus as a part of its cultural center.
