Greetings fellow SPSW members! It was great to see everyone that was able to attend our first in-person meeting in over a year on Thursday.

We want to make sure you were all aware of our annual wood auction. Instead of a potluck, we are asking people to bring their own food, chairs, and tables. We plan to arrive at the North Lake Improvement Club at about 11:00 and set up for the auction. We will eat at about 12:00, and then start the auction right after lunch.

Over the past year, our club’s wood-rat (Doug Reynolds) has coordinated multiple cutting parties where we have been able to acquire some really wonderful wood. There will be highly figured maple, box elder, black walnut, locust, monkey puzzle, holly, oak, and many other species. Sizes range from big slabs and rounds, all the way down to pen blanks, and everything in between! Almost all of this wood has been sealed with Anchor Seal and is ready for further processing.

Honestly folks, take advantage of this. Access to this auction is considered by many to be a huge benefit of belonging to the SPSW! There are woods here that aren’t generally available in stores. And if you were to try to buy some of this wood in a store, it would be prohibitively expensive. Lots will contain several pieces of wood, and usually go for $20 - $30! It is the deal of the year.
