PBS (Public Broadcasting System) has a Craft in America section on their website with lesson plans for teachers. Interestingly, they have a series focusing on The Moulthrops: A Family of Woodturners. The site provides this description of the series:

The Moulthrops: A Family of Woodturners explores the work of three generations of woodturners in the FAMILY episode. Ed Moulthrop, known as the father of modern woodturning, was an architect who found a passion for creating beautiful large-scale turned wood objects. He single handedly raised national awareness of woodturning as an art while inventing tools used by woodcrafters today. Philip Moulthrop followed a career path similar to his father’s and trained to be a lawyer but found greater satisfaction in making uniquely patterned wood bowls. Matt Moulthrop apprenticed with his father and grandfather and continues the family tradition.

That auction is nearing the end, which is October 13th at 17:00 BST. There are 118 beautiful pieces that would enhance any room that they are displayed in. Many of the items have not met the reserve bid so this is an opportunity to obtain an amazing piece of art created by world renowned artists. A total of 124 world-class turners agreed to take part in the project and so far 118 pieces have been returned. The AWGB have posted pictures of these and the results are absolutely stunning. The portal enable people to learn about woodturning, its origins, appeal and how to get started. app1The AAW is happy to announce that the American Woodturner journal is now available in an interactive digital format that can be read on Apple and Android mobile devices. There are already five issues available and ready for your viewing pleasure!

The electronic version, better known as the AAW App, has been designed especially for iPads and Android tablets, and complements the printed edition of the journal. It presents superb interactive content and offers direct links to a wealth of online content, including videos and woodturning resources.

The AAW App is free for download and installation for AAW members, and issues of American Woodturner are free for download with applicable AAW App login credentials.

Before you begin to download the AAW App, check to make sure you have a strong and consistent Internet signal.

Step Two
Read the AAW App instructions for your device. As mentioned previously, digital issues of American Woodturner are free to AAW members with proper login. Please follow the instructions to ensure that you do not inadvertently pay for an issue. If you purchase an issue by accident, you will need to seek a refund from the App Store or Google Play. AAW is not able to issue refunds.
